Establish A Strategic Direction
Strategic direction encompasses every action an organization takes to accomplish its goals. The word "action" is key because communicating strategic direction needs to be concrete, not just an abstract vision. Establishing and maintaining this direction should result in more efficient employees and higher levels of employee engagement, performance and respect.
Strategic direction is a company's roadmap for success, and some organizations literally create flow charts to visualize strategy. An effective boss chooses one direction out of many possibilities and lays out how each employee can play their part. Honing strategic direction allows leaders to give employees the right resources. One example is implementing a cloud storage drive to eliminate the need to email files from person to person, which improves clarity and overall workflow.
Furthermore, a good boss should be mindful of every employee's needs. Leaders should understand how every action affects the strategic direction. A boss who is too busy to be aware of employee needs and contributions might have lost sight of an important driver of success and could benefit from incorporating more mindfulness into their management style.
